Ceremonially opening the 2008 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo with a pair of wood-handled scissors and a length of ribbon, Wicked contract performer Stormy Daniels, dressed casually in a black top and jeans (the rest of the Wicked Girls, like jessica drake, Mikayla Mendez, Kaylani Lei, Kirsten Price, and Alektra Blue, all wore dresses) at first could not slice the fabric. She gave the scissors back to some AEE functionaries and then cut the ribbon with a knife.
“Welcome to the 2009 Adult Entertainment Expo,” she said. “Let the rush begin.”
The moment didn’t fill me with a childlike sense of wonder, as did the scene of two drunk girls fighting on the Mirage Casino floor, but I might be jaded after five years.
I hope Stormy’s cord-cutting isn’t her symbolic Jenna Jameson move. After all, it was Stormy who had to take the stage at last year’s AVN Awards following Jameson, who had just quit the adult business. “I’m Stormy Daniels and I’m not going anywhere,” she said at the time.
