You may well be wondering why I advertise another review site here on GramPonante.com. The truth is that RabbitsReviews covers much more content than I can and is not subject to the wild mood swings that make Porn Valley Observed beloved of clinical psychologists everywhere, so you can be pointed unerringly toward the type of porn you already know you want, as opposed to what I do, which is pull you down to my level.
RabbitsReviews employs 25 people. I spoke with White Rabbit, the shadowy owner of the Montreal-based site.
White Rabbit: RabbitsReviews started during the summer of 2003. At first it was just a hobby. You watch porn, collect it and then eventually realize that you need to pay for it—at least if you want the best porn. We have been helping people find what’s best for six years. That’s why we’re the biggest porn review site.
Gram Ponante: Why Montreal?
White Rabbit: Montreal is a hub for the porn industry in Canada but that’s not why we’re here. It’s a beautiful city filled with gorgeous people and I couldn’t see myself living anywhere else right now.
Gram Ponante: What need does your site fill?
White Rabbit: RabbitsReviews helps ensure people find the porn they’re looking for quickly and easily. We show people which sites have the most and best quality content. That way, when they purchase a membership at a website, they can be assured that they’re getting a certain level of value. We bring peace of mind when it comes to shopping for porn online—and we’re proud of how well we’re able to do that.
Gram Ponante: How many reviews are on your site, and how many do you estimate you do in a year?
White Rabbit: We’ve reviewed well over 7,000 sites but currently have about 6,500 that are online and active. We don’t know of any porn review site that has more in-depth reviews than we do. Churning out over 1,000 each year takes a machine of a certain caliber and right now we’re at the top of our game.
Gram Ponante: The value to the average consumer, I’d think, is that you provide a great service wherein you do a lot of sorting for people through the haystack of online adult content. Do you agree?
White Rabbit: Time is more than just money. Time is everything today. Yes, I’d agree that we help people find the best porn quickly, but we also provide endless other options so no matter what your tastes are today, when they change tomorrow, we’ll still be the most valuable resource to have bookmarked.
Gram Ponante: What would you say are the main differences between the historical “online side” of the adult industry and the video side? Is there a business style and personality type that proliferates there?
White Rabbit: There are some obvious stereotypes that mark both the computer and video production industries and they’re there for good reason. For the online side, we’ve progressed from a small group of computer cowboys to what is largely a space controlled by corporations and a matching mentality. The big difference between video and the Internet is that video seems to have traditionally always looked out for the interests of the industry as a whole. Online, however, has groups who have started a trend that is cannibalizing the very industry that video pioneered. Free porn hurts everyone, including performers and distributors, right on up to the consumer. This is really going to shake out over the next five to ten years. And when it does, the Internet side may have a lot to apologize for.
