“Careful, don’t split it,” says Gianna to Michael Stefano in her first anal scene.
Gianna Michaels is one of those people whose pornic assets are as apparent and compelling no matter what side of her equator you’re starting from. So in “Big Wet Asses 15,” director William H. directs your attention to Gianna’s ample and mesmerizing southside by pouring oil all over it.
A good director knows when to back away and when to focus. William H.’s cast is so good at what they do, and so practiced at looking good doing it, that the director’s job is to let the cast do what they do best without fogging up his own lenses.
“This feels crazy,” says Gianna in an explosive first scene, and her dirty talk to Stefano nearly unhinges him (Manuel Ferrara and Mr. Pete are equally appreciative of their time with Julia Ann and Ava Rose, respectively).
Shot in one location – on the same couch that should probably be put out of its misery – “BWA 15” really made me feel like the sex I was watching was really happening, performed by pros who enjoyed what they were doing and who didn’t let the camera distract them.
“It’s so new I don’t even know how to talk dirty,” Gianna says, encouraging Stefano to slow down now and then, “I just want to enjoy it.”
It was a surprise to me that this movie marked Gianna’s first onscreen anal scene. With an ass like that I’m surprised it hadn’t happened accidentally on purpose, like, 10,000 times.
Usually a porn movie’s first scene will be the absolute high point or its lowest. But the next scene, featuring Julia Ann and Ferrara, was stellar for different reasons. Just as many women will pant to work with Belladonna, Manuel Ferrara is on every female performer’s Yes list for his combination of romance and brutality.
It is especially satisfying to watch Julia Ann in this scene. The veteran performer is now in the part of her career where she is winning MILF awards, and she has a real fierceness and accessibility that wasn’t as often on display in the earlier, more “glamorous” part of her porn career. She and Ferrara seem like real people in this scene. Really. Hot. People.
And while load volume is not the best indicator of how much a male participant enjoyed a scene, Ferrara does drop nearly a gallon on Julia Ann’s face, which she seems to take as a compliment.
Only Gianna and Ava Rose strike me as having “big asses,” but the remaining 60 percent of the women go out of their way to compensate. For example, I never thought of Kimberly Kane in terms of her butt. Probably because her skin is so beautiful I’ve always considered the whole package. But in her tease scene, in which she dances against a white backdrop, viewers will agree that Kane looks better every time they see her.
In her scene with James Deen, Kane groans like she’s expelling (or inviting) a demon.
Since she is no longer a contract girl for Adam & Eve, Ava Rose doesn’t work as often. Her Twitter account seems like it’s more of a travelogue than the day to day life of a working porn actress. It’s with this in mind that her post-Adam & Eve scenes seem like events.
“I don’t go in for the hustle,” Rose said. “I don’t work it.”
That is why Rose as a performer is great to see on an On day, and why her pairing with Mr. Pete is really smart.
Because Mr. Pete loves Ava Rose, so the performer who looks like the Luckiest Hillbilly Alive really flatters the shit out of her, and she responds.
The final scene features Ava’s sister Mia and Manuel Ferrara. It is because Ferrara and Julia Ann seemed so well-matched in age and Porn Valley experience that their scene was more memorable, but to their credit both Mia and Manuel charm the pants off each other, too.
Thus ends Disc One. Rather than a whole other disc of filler material, Disc Two presents an informative history of the “BWA” series from its inception in 2003, helmed by director/lunatic Thomas Zupko. Zupko was one of porn’s visionaries, and it is sad that the current economic state of affairs cannot support a thriving Zupko porn career.
But there is plenty to watch as the 14 previous “BWA”s unfold, including appearances by the inevitable and asstastic Germans Katja Kassin and Annette Schwarz.
For its generous slice of porn history, the time it takes to establish relationships despite the oilslicks everywhere, and the obvious enthusiasm of its cast, I highly recommend “Big Wet Asses 15.”
