Blowjobs: Thing with Balloons Confuses, Momentarily Engages AEE Attendees [video]

DSC_3537Many critics of porn say that the art form has no narrative arc, but that’s not true. For example, one minute someone who should not be anyone’s father ushers a woman who should never be a babysitter into his rental home, perfectly flaccid, and then three fast-forwarded minutes later he has delivered a payload to her face and neck.

Between points A and B there is conflict (“Actually, my children were taken away from me”), negotiation (“I’ll just tell the service that I’ll be ten minutes late”), and resolution (“You LIKE that, right??”) sufficient to buoy any Tom Stoppard play.

It was in this spirit of dramatic tension that several Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) booths spontaneously featured women blowing up balloons.

“What the—balloons? Why?” you might well ask.

Because you are not as attuned to the worlds of literature and sensuality as I am, I will explain the balloon fetish. The balloon inflation represents the marital act as initiated by a sexually aggressive or at least sexually accessible woman. As she fills the balloon with air from her own heaving lungs, the audience waits either for its explosion or her death. Both are dramatically satisfying conclusions in this “Zoo Story” of girls putting their mouths on things.

The sexually confident viewer will take vicarious pleasure in the inflation of the balloon and thrill to its eventual explosion knowing that, metaphorically, the destruction of the balloon indicates the completion of the dance and a triumph of the woman who is now panting and languid, covered with the airy residue of her exertions.

We watch Caroline Pierce blow up a balloon in this impromptu video (which climaxes the way you might expect). In the background you can hear or see the Free Speech Coalition’s Joanne Cachapero (Pierce blew up the balloon at the FSC booth to collect donations to fight Measure B) as well as Woodrocket.com’s Lee Roy Myers.

Here’s a cool picture: How often do we get to see a balloon in the process of—as Hannibal Lecter would put it—becoming?
