It must be odd for their Chicago family that it is Melissa McCarthy, and not her former Playmate cousin, Jenny, who gets the porn adaptation.
“We so wanted to see Tara Lynn Foxx as Jenny in the ‘Singled Out’ parody,” a spokesperson for the McCarthy family did not say.

What makes “Brides Maids XXX” different from most porn parodies is that not only are there several scenes in which the budget allowed for all the cast to be in the same room, but the women also had matching bridesmaids’ outfits. These thoughtful elements, plus the fearless Sasha Knox in the Melissa McCarthy role, make for a fun movie.
Lil (Sarah Vandella) is getting married, but her Maid of Honor, Annie (Lexi Swallow) isn’t having a lot of luck with men, so can’t be entirely happy for her friend. Add to that the overachieving Katie St. Ives as Lil’s other best friend and we have the makings of a powderkeg of resentment and catfights.
Kristen Wiig’s 2011 hit was a great ensemble piece, as is this, in its own porny fashion. The interplay between brassy Kagney Linn Karter and prudish (for porn) April O’Neil is fun, but it is Sasha Knox who gets to be totally unleashed. You can tell she’s having fun burping and farting and not worrying about keeping her stomach in.
It’s odd, though, that it is Sasha Knox—petite by most standards—who is the fat one.
Lil, Annie, and the rest of the bridesmaids follow Wiig’s plot pretty closely, even though there is an option on the DVD to just watch the sex. This is considerate.
But not necessary, because this is a fun-loving, zesty cast who can handle the dialogue just as well as the sex, and “Brides Maids” is one of those movies that rewards avoiding the Fast Forward button.
My favorite scene—which sets the tone for the rest of the movie—comes at the beginning, in a dream sequence between toolish Anthony Rosano and Swallow that has to be the goofiest “bad” sex scene in recent memory.
“Brides Maids XXX” seems like one of those movies that will sell a lot of units for bachelorette party gift bags alone and, if the boxcover copy is to be believed, “Bridesmaids” director Paul Feig “couldn’t be prouder” of Jim Powers’ adaptation.

Not really, given the typical porn star body type, and though I wouldn’t dream of bumping Ms. Knox for anyone, it is unfortunate we don’t get a truly super-curvy girl thrown in the mix as a bonus. But hey, this lineup of ladies by itself is already pushing this title up into worth-full-retail territory.
Gram, I know you love my endless questions, so here’s another: all these movies that are “shot in HD!” and only ever released in SD/DVD–what the fuck do they do with the HD footage, just delete it after they’ve down-scaled? You’re shooting it in HD, fucking distribute it in HD, amirite?
