I am covering this convention for the excellent DVD and VOD site Gamelink, which will feature several of my interviews from the AEE over the next few weeks, and so for this site I will concentrate on how the performers are handling the rigors of fan attention.
Courtney Cummz is seen here signing for Adam & Eve, and this man handed her photo after photo and calendar after calendar to autograph for about 10 minutes. As the line grew behind him, he would quickly place another item in front of Cummz as soon as she finished the previous one.
She had a bodyguard standing nearby to keep fans from pawing her, but no one showed up to shuffle this poor man away. Meanwhile she kept signing and signing and signing. She has pretty hands. He leaned his hands on the counter, as if too nervous to approach her with his fingertips.
It must be tough. She doesn’t want to be short with him, else half of Japan would know by tomorrow. I walked away. She’s probably still signing stuff for him now.

There really needs to be a limit to what will be signed as jokers like this guy were legion, perhaps the only growth industry at the show, with dozens of things he wanted signed. How many fanboys brought their DVD covers alphabetized by performer (cross referenced at that) along with manila folders full of pictures and other memorabilia destined for Ebay or elsewhere while the rest of us had to patiently wait them out?
