Whenever I see that freewheeling band of friends, that Gangbang Squad, out to piledrive Aurora Snow or Amber Rayne into a different state of being, I think of the mid-period B-52’s song “Deadbeat Club” and wonder: are they so different?
“We’re the wild boys walking down the street,” the B-52’s sang in their poignant 1990 paean to lost youth. “Wild boys and girls going out for a big time – any way we can.”
Maybe the B-52’s were a gay-friendly Athens, GA party band seemingly diametrically opposed to the thuggish group of men who look like extras from “The Wire,” but doesn’t “any way we can” evoke pleasant memories of “by any means necessary”?
I like to think that when the members of the Gangbang Squad are at home and at their leisure, sipping white wine and reminiscing about the day that Amber Rayne paid for her oil change and tire rotation by fucking all of them, that there is more sweet than bitter in their recollections and that – just maybe – Michael Stipe shows up at their next “big time,” just like he did for the B-52’s in the video below.

My friend Jeremy told me that the next time I see the trailer for Mel Gibson’s new movie “Edge of Darkness,” I should imagine that everyone else in the trailer that he yells at, stabs, chokes, punches, shoots, etc. is Jewish and it becomes twice as amusing. He was right.
