Is “Alice” the new MILF?

Stormy Daniels, Sasha Grey, and now Sunny Lane will have played the title character of the porn adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” by the end of the year.

Lane, cast last week in the joint Erica McLean/Carlos Batts production (also starring April Flores as the Red Queen and Aiden Starr as Tweedledee) is the third Alice in a series that started with Wicked’s “Tormented” starring Daniels and Miss Lucifer’s “Malice in La La Land” starring Grey.

Oh. Aiden Starr also played a bunny opposite Stormy’s Alice in “Tormented.”

McLean and Batts are both groovy, arty people. I think McLean’s “Hardcore Circus” is one of the best movies of the year. Having met this summer at Kimberly Kane’s birthday party, McLean and Batts collaborated on the “Alice” idea and will begin shooting this weekend with Evan Stone as the Mad Hatter, Otto Bauer as Caterpillar, and the adorable Lavish Styles as the Cheshire Cat.

“We can do some gorgeous things with this,” said McLean of her self-financed “Alice.”

“It’s not going to be like anything you’ve seen before,” Batts said. “It’s gonna have a hip-hop, arty, urban feel.”

The feel of movies McLean and Batts have worked on individually is remarkably similar. To varying degrees both directors release movies distinct from anything else in the adult business in that they have the feel of a big Thanksgiving dinner. With nudity.

“We give our people lots of work,” Batts said.

McLean and Batts incorporate work from friends outside the porn industry, so this “Alice” will feature, for example, music and art from Batts’ longtime collaborators on “Young Hollywood,” “Kiss Attack,” and “Glamazons.”

There will also be a pimp.

“I met Archbishop Don Magic Juan at a birthday party at a local cowboy bar,” said McLean. “He’s actually really romantic, opens car doors for me, always gives me gifts, texts me little messages every day.”

“What will he play in the movie?”

“Tweedledum and Tweedledee’s pimp.”

I’m not sure why “Alice in Wonderland” is capturing the pornic imagination this year. Certainly this trio is not the first to look up “Alice”‘s skirt (you know Tom Petty wanted to, and Lewis Carroll probably did) but there have never been three adult adaptations of the same book in one year.

And Batts is clear that his “Alice” is an adaptation. “It’s not a parody,” he said.

Flores was a shoo-in for the Red Queen, but Batts and McLean held auditions late last month, from which Starr was cast. Sunny Lane, being trailed by yet another documentary crew, landed the title role over a dozen applicants.

It is not lost on this observer that all three of this year’s Alices have names that begin with S. They also have vaginas.

“Alice” begins filming next week in locations in downtown L.A. (Carroll’s rabbit hole will be transformed into “The Hole,” an S&M club) as well as McLean’s ranch north of Los Angeles.

“Do you think I’m crazy for doing this when the adult market is shaky?” said McLean. “I guess I’m just out of my mind. I accept it.”
