Jesse Jane and her husband, Rich, grace the cover of “Off the Set: Porn Stars And Their Partners,” a coffeetable book containing beautiful images of porn performers and their (more often than not, former) significant others.
Among the other pornstars featured are Tera Patrick (formerly married to Evan Seinfeld), Kylie Ireland (still with Eli Cross), Buck Angel, Nicki Hunter, Lorelei Lee (breakup), and Seymore Butts (partnered with Mari Possa).
New York-based photographers Paulie and Pauline shot the book (with a “forward” by Tristan Taormino) over the course of a few years, thus many of the couples featured in the book are no longer together.
This makes “Off the Set” that much more intriguing, of course, because the stereotype that the book implicitly seeks to topple is that porn performers can’t stay in relationships, and yet here are a bunch of porn performers in relationships!
I especially like the one of Kylie Ireland facing Cross, whose face is seen in the mirror. And the cover shot is great fun, too, as Jesse Jane is so tiny you could fit her in your pocket and Rich is as big as those rock walls rented for birthday parties.
Of course, most porn performers are residents of either L.A. or Orange Counties in California or Clark County in Nevada, all of which sport higher divorce rates (up to 70 percent) than the national average of 49 percent. Perhaps it is because they live in Oklahoma that Jesse and Rich are still married. My screenplay about Los Angeles (which I don’t need to write, since I am independently weathy) would be called “No Country for Married Men.”
I have my own beliefs of who was/is really in love in this book and for whom the idea of a relationship was a mutually beneficial affectation, but the pictures are gorgeous.

Gram — thanks so much for the compliments on the photos in our book! Please email me a snailmail address so I can send you a pre-release copy when the bound-books are ready. One thing I’d like to clarify — the stereotypes we’re hoping to confront with this book aren’t really centered around the idea that porn stars can’t stay in relationships. Instead, we wanted to try and illustrate that those relationships are in a great many ways just like those in the “civilian” world. And, true to life, not all relationships or marriages work out in the end. We do hope, though, that the photos of all the couples reveal something truly intimate and genuine about these individuals during the moments we were allowed to share with them.
