This is one of my favorite pictures of Dana DeArmond. The wall bass appears to be whispering something scandalous to her.

The photo was taken on the set of Vena Virago’s “East Side Story” for the former Vivid-steve, four years ago today. About a minute after I took this picture I got a phone call and learned that my older brother had died. Dana had nothing to do with it.

There was nothing I could do, and no plane I could catch, so I walked back on set and ate a burrito and took some more pictures. It was not the first time I’d learned of a relative’s death while at work, but now I wondered if my brother would have been amused by the environment in which I’d heard the news.

Since my brother and I hadn’t spoken in such a long time, it was impossible for me to gauge whether or not my taking pictures on a porn set a few thousand miles away from where we grew up would register as a good or a bad thing.

I also reflected that a porn set in East Los Angeles was an odd place to learn about the death of the guy who first played me the White Album.

Still, I used to work at United Parcel Service, so I was happy to be with Dana and the wall bass, given the choice.

  1. Sorry for your loss, Gram.

I can tell you that if I were the soul of a dead guy, nothing would please me more than to see a living loved one ensconced in the warm glow of the pleasures of the flesh.
Maybe tear off a piece in his honor today?
