As Christmas approaches, I am reminded of the line from “It’s A Wonderful Life” in which Clarence the Angel reminds George Bailey that “no man is a failure as long as he has friends.” Substitute “friends” with “nudes” and you’ve got Roman Polanski.
Polanski, who was arrested on the Swiss border in October for a decades-old U.S. warrant, was freed to the comfort of his Alpine villa, sources say, by the intercession of Carla Bruni, wife of French president Nicolas Sarcozy and a famous nude. Polanski was formerly married to the doomed but still nude Sharon Tate (the picture at the top of this article is estimated to fetch up to $12,000 in a December Christie’s auction) and is currently married to dusky nude Emmanuelle Seigner.
No word yet if “Chinatown” nude Faye Dunaway or “Rosemary’s Baby” nude Mia Farrow argued on Polanski’s behalf, but I’ve got to get some nudes in my corner if I’m going to fight the parking ticket I got last month in Koreatown.
