[PR] Ghost of Tera Patrick returns with dire warnings for adult industry

Tera Patrick, whose surprisingly forthright 2009 biography “Sinner Takes All” detailed the highs and lows of porn stardom, including her former marriage to Evan Seinfeld, drug abuse, institutionalization, and even a contract with Digital Playground—and which seemed to signal her retirement from the adult business—is returning to host January’s XBiz Awards.

XBiz, an adult industry trade publication, hosts an annual awards show as well as several industry events each year.

The following press release lists Patrick as the award show’s “official” host, separating her from the hundreds of unauthorized XBiz Awards viewing parties held around the country.

“Thank you for having me back XBIZ!” Patrick shouts.

Patrick, naked but for some wings and underpants, is dipping her toe back into the adult industry. It will be interesting to see how her hiatus from porn has changed her, and if the industry she left is to her liking.

The following is a press release reprinted to enlighten non-adult industry readers about how the porn business talks about itself. It was written by an adult industry marketing professional.

Tera Patrick to Host 2013 XBIZ Awards

LOS ANGELES, AUG. 28, 2012 — XBIZ is pleased to announce adult film superstar Tera Patrick as the official host of the industry awards event of the year, the 2013 XBIZ Awards, presented by Fleshlight, on Jan. 11, 2013, in Los Angeles.

Patrick is widely regarded as one of the most successful adult film stars of all time with dozens of best-selling movies as both a performer and producer to go with countless magazine covers during her remarkable career. While she retired from performing and producing in 2008, this year Patrick has begun doing select projects in the industry again and has her sights set on making the 2013 XBIZ Awards a historic occasion.

“I am beyond thrilled and honored and can’t wait to host the biggest awards event of the year!” Patrick said. “This is my second time I have had the pleasure of working with and hosting this event. Thank you for having me back XBIZ!”

In becoming one of the few stars in X-rated history whose popularity has transcended adult entertainment, Patrick’s achievements include being the only woman to ever be featured on the covers of both Playboy and Penthouse magazines simultaneously as well as landing multiple covers of FHM. She also published a best-selling memoir in 2009 called “Sinner Takes All.”

“Tera is the type of star that comes along once in a generation,” said Dan Miller, managing editor of XBIZ. “With her incredible beauty, undeniable charisma and unmistakable passion for her profession, she has risen to a place in adult entertainment history where few have ventured before her.”

Alec Helmy, founder and president of XBIZ, said that Patrick was the ideal choice to usher in a new era of the industry’s most extravagant awards gala.

“Tera Patrick is simply spectacular,” Helmy said. “Her unparalleled achievements in the industry are rivaled only by her exceptional professionalism and tireless commitment to excellence in everything she does. We couldn’t be more excited to have Tera host the most elaborate XBIZ Awards show in our organization’s history.”

Glitz, glamour and the biggest personalities in the world of adult entertainment have made the XBIZ Awards the most prestigious symbol of industry success. The star-studded event attracts A-list movers and shakers of the multibillion-dollar adult entertainment industry, generating buzz throughout the business and mainstream media. With an expanded list of more than 150 award categories, the 2013 XBIZ Awards show is set to feature the most expansive array of honors in the show’s history.

The gala will culminate an unprecedented series of six grand-slam industry events dubbed XBIZ 360°, which gets underway on Jan. 9 in L.A.
