The Office XXX just chills until the next webisode

“If you can get people to admit to watching porn, then you’ve got to give them something,” said Lee Roy Myers, director of New Sensations’ The Office XXX, the latest in a series of porn parodies that are vying for space in the pants of consumers.

But if other companies are looking at the resurgence of parodies as the one bright spot in an otherwise dismal adult DVD market, New Sensations seems to be banking on the Internet as the last, best moneymaker in porn.

The Office XXX, shot in December and released last week (see Murray Blackstone’s guest review here), is being augmented with a series of webisodes featuring the main cast (Ashlynn Brooke, Sadie West et al) that will drive traffic to New Sensations’ family of websites.

The webisodes are being shot in the same high-rise Glendale film facility as used in the movie, and the script for each are about four pages long and one sex scene.

In one room is Randy Spears with Nika Noire. Spears is a sign of the times just being here. Formerly exclusive to Wicked, Spears, like anyone in the business, needs to take work where it’s available. He fucks Noire on a desk, which is not the optimal place to do it, but times are tough.

In another room are Ashlynn Brooke and Sadie West. As the Office webisodes are not the only thing being shot in the multifloor facility, Brooke got caught by a security guard running down the hall naked the day before.

“Then we had security guys peeking in here all day,” she said.

The Glendale facility is becoming East Porn Valley, with Jim Malibu and Ernest Greene shooting projects here recently. It is a very corporate setting with security guards (according to Brooke, more every time) and receptionists downstairs, but on several days last week it looked half-occupied, which may account for the sudden rise in adult productions there.

I asked Myers if he or the company worried about getting sued. Like Jeff Mullen in a previous article, he felt the law was on his side.

“If Saturday Night Live can do it, so can we,” he said. “And I think we’ve captured the essence of (the Ricky Gervais/Steve Carell) original without traipsing into the legal gray area.”

If the XPlay parodies are all about set dressing and costuming, The Office XXX, in its blander corporate setting, relies on familiar camera moves and blocking to create the appearance of the original; there are forced zooms on actors who now and then check in with the camera.

Down the hall, the tiny Sadie West is reprimanded for smoking, and she is banished to a balcony overlooking Glendale. She and Brooke look so curvy on screen but in person they are almost microscopic. Could it be the smoking?

It could be that the glut of porn parodies is wearing down any organized resistance to them, just as celebrities have learned that organizations like TMZ aren’t going away (TMZ has sent reporters to cover many of XPlay’s, Hustler’s, and New Sensations’ movies). But who knows? Next month New Sensations begins shooting Seinfeld XXX, and that could get litigious.
