Today in Porn Talent: Calypsa Micca (and “Hot Girls Wanted”)

On the advice of counsel I recently watched the Netflix documentary “Hot Girls Wanted,” a very nice little snapshot of one way porn is done in 2015. Produced by Rashida Jones of “Parks And Recreation” fame, the doc follows several aspiring porn stars living in the Miami office/home of Hussie Models (I mentioned this on the podcast. Are you listening to the podcast?). It’s not squalid or preachy, but you get the idea that most of the models, had they traveled a little, maybe taken a couple of semesters of college, would have found something else to do than shoot porn in Florida. There are no Belladonnas or Nina Hartleys in the film, women for whom this business was a calling and maybe a lifesaver.

There has been porn industry criticism of the movie along the lines of “How dare they pluck such low-hanging fruit? It’s Florida,” but even Porn Valley model houses are warrens of temporary bedrooms, frilly things stored in suitcases, the occasional cyst or STD, some dude running things, and a quick adjustment to the transactional nature of all forms of sex work and the quick realization that some of the jobs that come one’s way are awfully hard to shore up one’s claims of empowerment.

But that’s the thing: empowerment comes in different forms. The sheer financial empowerment of making several times what one would make for less thrilling work at Burger King (Do they still have those? Is Burger King on Instagram?) is one of the many positives glossed over or avoided in “Hot Girls Wanted.” While the documentary nudges the viewer to a negative decision, it’s at least not too shrill, even if it doesn’t tell the whole story.

Burying the lede since 2005, then, we now come to Ms. Calypsa Micca. She’s in Los Angeles throughout August, straight outta Miami’s Hussie Models of subscription streaming service fame. Calypsa (wouldn’t it be cool if she named herself the more badass APOCALYPSA??) Micca makes up for a precious, Rilo Kiley-sounding nom de porn by exuding smokiness, letting the heels of her boots press lovingly into her ample assflesh, posing in a manner suggestive of contrapostto-meets-Bratz, and appearing to lean against the doorjamb but not really.

She does BBGG, BG, GBG, GG, Group, Interracial, and Solo. This is the first time I’ve seen BBGG, which I imagine is actually BGBG (not to be confused with BCBG Max Azria). I don’t know why BBGG (or BGBG) is somehow distinct from Group, but no one understands Florida.
