I’ve been around long enough to know that in porn, just as in life, there are seasons. There are seasons in which some genres, some directors, some performers, some locations are inexplicably in favor and then, once we have learned to live with inexplicability, not.

So today, four and a half years after this photo was taken, I can say that I know why “Land of the Amazons” was made, and it wasn’t because anyone but the director thought it would be a good movie. There were other things at work at the time that justified the expenditure, which for some reason included the female bodybuilder Yvette Bova, for such a film.

That is not to say that “Land of the Amazons” was a bad film (and that is not to say that I saw it). I’m just saying that whether or not it would be a good film was not the biggest consideration in its greenlighting.

  1. So, wait…are you going to tell us what the other things at work were, what the biggest consideration in its greenlighting? I’m really curious now.

PS: I like Yvette…she and I have one big thing in common.
