A recent trend in the exciting world of men’s adult magazines is the celebrity publisher. Tera Patrick fulfills that post at Genesis magazine, founded in 1973.
While I don’t think the celebrity publisher’s duties are as great as those of the publisher of The New York Times, a celebrity publisher usually carries more weight around the office than the publishers of adult trade magazines.
Tera contributes the Teravision column for Genesis and has appeared on its cover 10 times. In that Oprah appears on the cover of her own magazine every issue, I think Tera is humble by comparison.
I had a long conversation with Tera about typesetting, the magazine’s controversial decision to abandon Quark, and the vicissitudes of tri-state printing rates, but it was too sexy.
Old Testament names are common in pornographic media. In addition to Genesis, there’s Adam Film World, Adam & Eve, and Neuteronomy, a publication for castrati.
Stormy Daniels graces the May issue of Genesis, which also happens to be Tera’s 50th as publisher.
