Rita Faltoyano: Dance Shoes for Industry

I had been dancing in Galveston when my manager at the time, a weepy woman who had visions, piled us in her truck and drove to LA to hit the big time. The first sign I saw on the 10 heading in was Spearmint Rhino.

“What the hell is a spearmint rhino?” I wondered.

“Take it easy baby,” Luanne murmured, pointing the Astrovan toward an embankment.

These and hundreds more wonderful memories flood back now that I hear Mrs. Rita Faltoyano is going to be making her American dancing debut at a Spearmint Rhino in the magical City of Industry next Friday, September 9.

Faltoyano has danced in other countries, but is unfamiliar with American ways, like looting.

“I’ve been to Japan, Spain, France, Italy, Macao, Hungary, Finland, England, Austria, Holland and Mexico doing feature shows,” she said, not spreading herself out on a world map on my living room rug and chanting my name in Magyar. “I’m looking forward to seeing the reaction from the American audience.”

I still don’t know what a spearmint rhino is, but since her publicist says that this will be Faltoyano’s first time dancing on American soil, I’m assuming the floor is covered with dirt.
