Erecta Obscura

XBiz, because it is classy and because I originally obscured only 1/3 of the cocks in the picture to the left, removed my posting about Tina Tyler’s Ironhead 7.

This happened the same day I was forwarded the following comment about a sex toy review I posted on Fleshbot:

“I wanted to say that I’ve found the last few weeks of posts to be a wee bit obscure. And I consider myself pretty tapped into the scene. The last post, martial aide review: a hundred tongues [sic], made absolutely no sense to me. I read the website at least every third day. If I can’t understand the snark, I think there may be a problem.

Don’t make it so hard for me to get it! I’m an ivy league grad, for chrissakes!

PS. Don’t enter me into your database or use my name. I have a Political career to think about!”

I have met many people who are deliberately obscure so they can mask their basic lack of comprehension. People used to make that argument against David Lynch before his Straight Story proved that he could handle a traditional narrative as well or better than anyone else, and that his more complex films were actually filled with real choices.

But I take charges of going over people’s heads seriously, and I don’t do it on purpose, nor do I think less of people who don’t “get it” (in the same way I would be offended if someone was condescending to me if I didn’t understand a reference here or there).

Still, I would not be America’s Beloved Porn Journalist if I couldn’t talk about Cthulhu, Alien, or Helen Reddy in my attempts to explain Carmen Luvana to our nation’s Ivy League-educated political elite.

  1. Rather than presume you’re saying something that deliberately goes over my head, I choose to interpret references I don’t quite get as delightful nonsense.
