Casey Parker stands out from the crowd

At one point during Saturday’s AVN Awards red carpet I became possessed of the urge to wander. The spot I had been allocated was too small for my massive frame and ego, I didn’t want to wait my turn to snap the same pictures everyone else was taking, and there was a guy next to me who smelled like the City of Industry.

So I set off to find the Real Porn Stars, and found Casey Parker.

She was standing way back in the line and at first I didn’t recognize her. We were separated by a velvet rope and thousands of years of racial intolerance. Her hair was different, like she was a miniature Glamazon from Space who surfs.

“Gram!” she said. “It’s Casey Parker!”

“You can’t be Casey Parker,” I said.

“No one recognizes me with my new haircut,” she said.

“Do you still surf? Do you still speak Spanish?” I asked.

“Yes to both of those things,” she said. “I’m not with Shane’s World anymore.” (I suppose this wasn’t as random as it seems, or because we were pressed for time she felt that information was very important and of course she still spoke Spanish.)

“Why not?” I asked.

“It just didn’t work out,” she said.

My Mexican friends love Casey Parker. Everyone I know loves Casey Parker. Is the issue with Shane’s World? Whatever happened to Devon as a Shane’s World contract star?

This morning I got a press release from Shane’s World saying that the company had parted ways with Casey Parker.

“We had a great run,” [said Shane’s World CEO Andrew S.]. “We appreciate everything Casey did to promote the Shane’s World name and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

It is rare that a company will announce it is letting someone go. VCA did it when Eon McKai left for Vivid, and that announcement had the flavor of magnanimity in the face of bruised feelings. Vivid, Wicked, and Digital Playground girls receive no fanfare when they leave (unless they’re Tera Patrick), giving the impression that companies just keep adding people to their rosters until the ending of the world.

“So what are you up to now, Casey Parker?” I asked.

“Trying to get through this line,” she said.
