Photographer Chuck Stevens is getting a digital retrospective of his subtle, beautiful work at the online gallery erographic.
Stevens’ nudes, particularly from this black & white gallery, are just a little shy as they hang around; they don’t make eye contact. Either they are truly submissive, shrinking from the sunshine, or they are consumed by a powerful loathing of you, the viewer. Maybe it’s both! Women are complicated.
My favorite photograph is this one. The mattress is new, but putting clean linens on it just seems to be a waste of time, considering what’s about to happen.
Stevens’ galleries represent some of his latest work as well as gems from his 19-year career.
