The performer Reno, left, seen here on the set of Not Married with Children XXX, bears an uncanny resemblance to James Brolin in the false-Mission to Mars movie “Capricorn One.”
Reno plays an escaped convict in this XPlay project (to be distributed by Hustler), with the delightful Kagney Linn Karter as Kelly, Eric Swiss as Al, Brittany O’Connell as Peg, and Dane Cross as Bud. Swiss, O’Connell, and Karter are eerily effective in channeling their namesakes from the source 90’s TV series.
Further connecting Reno and Brolin is Brolin’s costar in “Capricorn,” the convict O.J. Simpson.
Perhaps it was the disruptive sound of planes from the nearby Van Nuys Airport that made me think of this, or Reno’s orange jumpsuit, similar to Brolin’s NASA outfit in “Capricorn One,” or maybe the pained expression on Reno’s face as he tried to comprehend the depths of Kelly’s stupidity, so alike to Brubaker’s shock at being deceived by his NASA mentor, Kelloway (Hal Holbrook).
Of course, Brolin was clean-shaven for “Capricorn,” but not for “The Amityville Horror.”
I think XPLay should remake “Amityville” with Reno in the lead, because you know what would be oozing down the walls, and the flies gathering on the windows could be webmaster boyfriends.
Finally, as this picture of Reno with Karter attests, the couple were posing for stills, which means that the actual money shot was filmed later, and Karter was in the interim squirted with Cetaphil, an amazingly come-like moisturizer. Thus a fake popshot instead of a fake Mars shot.
