Just like “Betamax Bitches,” “Cum on My DeLorean,” and “Ginger Lynn’s Token Ring Ethernet Sex Party,” “Pornstar Tweet” seeks to capitalize porntastically on an ephemeral trend. Does it succeed?
Yes, but for sentimental reasons. There is something so low-tech and Lowest Common Denominator about this movie featuring the juicy likes of Britney Stevens, Natasha Nice, Lexi Belle, and Nikki Benz tweeting bootycalls that, but for the occasional Blackberry and iPhone in the frame, you’d think this movie had been filmed in that halcyon Aw, Fuck It half-decade of Not Trying Too Hard porn between 1987 and 1992.
(And, oddly enough, most of the cast of “Pornstar Tweet” was born during that time.)
What sets this made-on-the-cheap ad for the website PornstarTweet.com apart from any other low-budget Jim Powers tossoff is its overriding good humor and DIY attitude. Oh, also: Lexi Belle. We would watch her watch paint dry.
That and a character named Paul Wilcox who is interviewed by Powers in the BTS segment. If “Pornstar Tweet” is ever recognized as a valid document about what life was like among carefree benighted pornographers in the last weeks of the first decade of the 21st century, Wilcox’s interview will be studied by scholars for semesters on end.
