There are warehouses throughout California and Nevada that are filled with ancient pornography, catalogs that are bought and sold and sold again, and compiled and re-released in the hope that nostalgic porn enthusiasts will buy them for the bittersweet joy of—in the case of the animated “Grimy’s Tales”—seeing a woman fucked by a frog.
Such is the case of the generations-old porn classics distributor VCX of Nevada, which has repackaged the animated 1972 epic “Grimy’s Tales” as “X-Rated Cartoons.” VCX released this reissue in 2007. I must have been eating lunch, because I didn’t get the disc until a few days ago.
Directed by Richard Meintz for the long-gone American company Love Productions (there is a current—and unrelated— Love Productions, but that is producing “The Beatles’ Love” for Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas), “Grimy’s Tales” include seven pornographic retellings of Grimm’s Fairy Tales and other odds and ends with titles like “The Rape of Sleeping Beauty” and “Wet Snow White.”
While the animation and sound are poor by any standards, “Grimy’s Tales” is still fascinating to watch because of what it got away with. Snow White’s Evil Queen mounts her cat, Sleeping Beauty’s mom is fucked by a frog, and the baby Sleeping Beauty does something that would very likely get this site closed down if I posted the picture. And I wouldn’t want to get Pete Townshend in trouble if he reads this site.
And the stories are very involved, if crudely executed. Like many repurposed movies, “X-Rated Cartoons” does not mention “Grimy’s Tales” at all, or show a title card, but we can hear the title shouted by a hermaphroditic peanut gallery (see gallery) that shows up between stories.
Like today’s hentai, the content of “Grimy’s Tales” (which were known as “Les Contes de Grimy” in France and “Erotische Zeichentrickfilm Parade” in Germany) is not made more innocent by virtue of it being a cartoon. Frequently there are more disturbing images in animated porn than you’d find in live action hardcore pornography, all the while placed in a childish setting.
But it’s a worthwhile movie to watch, if anything because you get to see what it looks like when a person’s dick is so big that it enters his partner’s vagina but comes out of her mouth. I was only able to do this once in real life, but the woman had no arms or legs and was already part of a joke.

I saw this many years ago, probably on a cassette I bought from a mail-order porn shop. I still have it, somewhere in storage, but I’m 99% sure I’ll never watch it again, because it’s so goddamn awful that one viewing is more than enough.
